with incidents and U-turns thrown in for good measures !
Rolling up to the meeting place at McDonald’s in Macclesfield to find PLT, DBK, Gordon (but we’ll call him Roger), Tony already here with the Anyon sisters following shortly behind me.A healthy breakfast (Yes Mcd’s do lower calorie breako’s) then Andy and Karen rolled up deciding not to take advantage of a breakfast here.
After losing PLT to a bike issue, Tony decided to try and take out the Anyon Sisters with his group flag and pole, but thankfully failed but was a close call, after another short wait Tony rolled up with his fallen flag. All good we made off for our pre arranged brew stop to find 2 Riders missing, Tony and TEC’s. Turns out the nut from the flag pole decided to fly off and tried to take out Andy but thankfully again failed. With this sorted and a turn missed the wait was a little longer but we actually made it to The Country Kitchen for a brew, breakfast for some and Tony’s cake for others making a further £33 rounded up to £46 to take the rolling total over £1k. Awesome. Also a thanks to Roger and his donation.
From here the next stop for lunch would be at The Anglers Rest on Bamford. Reaching here via Ashbourne, Monyash, Bakewell & Hathersage. The food here was top dollar and sitting in the sun made for a cracking stop with plenty of banter and chats.
Unfortunately from here was meant to be past Ladybower Reservoir and up the Snake pass but this is where our first U-turn was taken, having riding 5 miles up the Snake to find there was a serious accident where the Air Ambulance had been called, hoping all involved were to be OK. This caused us to miss out some decent roads but we ended up going up Winnats Pass but before our 2nd U-turn where I missed the turning
Buxton saw us stopping for fuel and where I called the ride over so those that lived South and East could get home easier. A great ride, with decent weather.
