After Storm Babet this meant our charity week end was cancelled for safety!

Another great ride out! Some arrived like a wet fish. Who said the weather was fine!

Didn’t take long to dry out though as we set off down to Raven Cafe for a very filling breakfast, not to forget the my first right turn is also my first official U-Turn and the “feck it ride on” through the road closure sign. It was a flooded road but we had a gap to get through safely (luckily).

Onwards after breakfast was nice easy A roads with a couple of unnecessary B roads to get to the ruins of Roman city at Wroxeter which really was just a loo stop for big Anyon sister and photos.

Then the ride got really interesting upon arriving at The Iron Bridge. My great sense of direction took us up a rather steep road, missing the road closure sign (no cars or motorbikes) This is where I say “Me no inglishe, me Chinese”

Lovely area around The Iron Bridge but so sad to see The River Severn so high that you could see peoples garden submerged by the river.

After our unscheduled drink stop at the bridge we headed to Stafford for a lovely lunch at The Royal Oak. Where food and the banter was top notch, although we were cooked more than the food in that greenhouse room they plonked us in.

Plan was scuppered for Rudyard Lake cafe as we over ran on time and the back up cafe was also out of our reach so an impromptu stop at a quaint little pub Ye Olde Crown Hotel for some coffees and teas with Andy’s delicious fruit cake.

As time was getting on decision was made to say our goodbyes there and make our way home.

Thanks Tony, for your first full day leading after becoming Road Officer.
