Ride report for the second organised ride out.
Starting off from Lymm poplar 2000 services meeting at 8.30 in glorious sunshine albeit rather fresh
, we had Jo Banister, Tony Cheung, Mal Pool, Jeanette, James & Angela Sayers, Mark Anyon, Jozsef Nagy, John Rawnsley, Jim Scott & Alan Bainbridge. Thanks for Mark taking on the role of Tail End Charlie with his new extra bright spotlights. We headed off down the A50 over towards Congleton, turning before Leek finding some great roads over the hills to Tittesworth Reservoir visitor centre where Michael and Diane Allen were turning into the car park just ahead of us. Perfect timing
. A brief stop here for refreshments and a surprise appearance by the Indian Indian Ankush Sharma from IMRG steel city with another rider and pillion. (Can’t remember their names
). The next section took us deeper into the Peak District taking a winding route via some technical uphill hair pins
across past Chatsworth House where we waved ‘see ya later ‘ to Mal & Jeanette who headed off to attend a surprise birthday party for Mal’s sister. Hope that went well Mal. After Chatsworth was our lunch stop at the very busy Yonderman Cafe. Here we met with the president of IMRG Steel City Phil Turner and another member Ian. Phil accompanied us on the next leg of the ride with Michael and Diane Allen leaving us after the cafe to get set for the football (apparently it’s derby day in Manchester ). Suitably refreshed and fed the route took us on another slow meander due to many many cyclists
past Ladybower reservoir onto the snake pass. Glorious weather today on this road, fantastic scenery. Several sets of temporary traffic lights later we arrived for a much needed fuel stop in Glossop. Here we waved off Joszef and John. The next leg took us towards Chapel-en-le-Frith where Phil peeled off back towards Sheffield. Our planned route via Kettleshulme was blocked due to a landslide closing the road. A quick decision made to head towards Buxton and take the Cat and Fiddle road over to Macclesfield meant the plan to go through Bollington/Prestbury/Over Alderley was ditched heading back to Lymm via Chelford as time was ticking on. Once back at Lymm services we enjoyed some light banter, coffee and the all important cake
(£40 raised for charity, amazing
thanks to you all)

172 smiles from Lymm – Lymm meaning most will have done well over 200 miles door to door in clear blue skies and fabulous sunshine. What a great day to be out on the open road
