Breakfast Run – Old Stores

Andys breakfast ride to The Old Stores cafe on Sunday 18th May 2025………
We met at Poplar 2000 services Lymm at 8.30 am. After some of the usual good  old banter we had the obligatory group photo with the flag. Andy then did his pre-ride speech before we set off. The route took us via Frodsham and Broughton before arriving at the Old Stores at 10 am. After filling our faces with a good hearty breakfast we said goodbye to Stu, Brian, Pete, Digit and Julie who were all heading home. We set off again for our lunchtime break at the Bryn Arms at Coed Y LLwyn. We found the perfect spot in the lovely beer garden for refreshments and some more great banter. We said goodbye to Tim here as he headed off home. From here we set off for our final destination at the BP garage at St Asaph through Betws Y Coed, Dolgarrog and some absolutely stunning parts of Wales , the scenery was just breathtaking! At the garage we had a brew and some of Andys cake which made Derian House a grand total of £48.58 🎉 Thank you so much guys! ♥️

Second Ride of 2025

Ride report for the second organised ride out.
Starting off from Lymm poplar 2000 services meeting at 8.30 in glorious sunshine albeit rather fresh 🥶, we had Jo Banister, Tony Cheung, Mal Pool, Jeanette, James & Angela Sayers, Mark Anyon, Jozsef Nagy, John Rawnsley, Jim Scott & Alan Bainbridge. Thanks for Mark taking on the role of Tail End Charlie with his new extra bright spotlights. We headed off down the A50 over towards Congleton, turning before Leek finding some great roads over the hills to Tittesworth Reservoir visitor centre where Michael and Diane Allen were turning into the car park just ahead of us. Perfect timing 👍. A brief stop here for refreshments and a surprise appearance by the Indian Indian Ankush Sharma from IMRG steel city with another rider and pillion. (Can’t remember their names 🥴). The next section took us deeper into the Peak District taking a winding route via some technical uphill hair pins 😱 across past Chatsworth House where we waved ‘see ya later ‘ to Mal & Jeanette who headed off to attend a surprise birthday party for Mal’s sister. Hope that went well Mal. After Chatsworth was our lunch stop at the very busy Yonderman Cafe. Here we met with the president of IMRG Steel City Phil Turner and another member Ian. Phil accompanied us on the next leg of the ride with Michael and Diane Allen leaving us after the cafe to get set for the football (apparently it’s derby day in Manchester ). Suitably refreshed and fed the route took us on another slow meander due to many many cyclists 🤬 past Ladybower reservoir onto the snake pass. Glorious weather today on this road, fantastic scenery. Several sets of temporary traffic lights later we arrived for a much needed fuel stop in Glossop. Here we waved off Joszef and John. The next leg took us towards Chapel-en-le-Frith where Phil peeled off back towards Sheffield. Our planned route via Kettleshulme was blocked due to a landslide closing the road. A quick decision made to head towards Buxton and take the Cat and Fiddle road over to Macclesfield meant the plan to go through Bollington/Prestbury/Over Alderley was ditched heading back to Lymm via Chelford as time was ticking on. Once back at Lymm services we enjoyed some light banter, coffee and the all important cake 😋 (£40 raised for charity, amazing 🤩 thanks to you all)
172 smiles from Lymm – Lymm meaning most will have done well over 200 miles door to door in clear blue skies and fabulous sunshine. What a great day to be out on the open road 😎

Memorial Ride For Len and Stefan

*MCO Riders memorial ride and breakfast*
Sunday 8th September 2024
The day started at Poplar 2000 Lynm where we met up at 8.30pm in the pouring rain 🌧 This didn’t deter us though, so after a quick cuppa and chat in McDonald’s we set off for our breakfast stop at Cottage kitchen country cafe at Winkhill,Leek.
After fueling up on a delicious breakfast, and lots of the usual great banter, we headed off again for our next destination The National Arboretum, Litchfield, where we met up with Matt. After laying a cross and paying our respects to Mals nephew Sean we headed back to the cafe for a drink and some more great banter. We then said our goodbyes to Matt and headed for our final stop at Costa Coffee Shavington. It was now coffee and cake 🎂 time courtesy of our guest rider Jo. The cake made our charity The Friends of Red Marsh School a grand total of £32 🎉
We then said our goodbyes until next time…….
Thank you Tony Cheung for leading us along some great roads today…….

Charity Breakfast

*Sunday 25th August*
Charity breakfast ride and raffle at Tony’s………
Well, what can I say, but wow! What an absolutely fantastic turnout from the MCO Family again!
Andy and I arrived early to find Tony hard at it in the kitchen. As I opened the door and this delicious aroma met my nose I knew we were all in for a treat, & boy was it just that! Tony didn’t disappoint with his magnificent traditional Chinese banquet breakfast 😋 As everyone started to roll up Tony was filling metal trays on the table with an array of gorgeous Chinese fayre. It was decided we would eat first so as not to let the food go cold and to stop our bellies from rumbling 😂 We also had our new Mr P on coffee duty 😀 He is somewhat of a coffee drinking expert, but now he can add barista to his CV 😂
After filling our faces, over lots of good old banter, it was raffle time. Can I say that we had a great range of donated prizes from you guys …..thank you so much 😘 The top prize though I think went to Mark 😉 an accolade he will find hard to shake off with us lot 😂🤣😂 Seriously though there were some amazing prizes!
After we had finished the raffle it was decided that due to the weather forecast not being great that we should abandon the ride and just all head home.
This MCO Family just keeps getting better & better, if that’s possible, and I couldn’t be prouder of being part of it…..love you guys loads & loads ❤️
A huge, massive thank you to Tony Cheung & Tracey Cheung for your wonderful hospitality, as always, and the amazing spread that you guys laid on for us 🥰 Can I also thank the following members for attending today, and for providing all the wonderful raffle prizes……..Over £500 raised for Friends of Red Marsh School from the event 🥰

It’s was a fantastic ride out with Mike Ostrom and many thanks to our guys who could make it being Samantha Ogden Tony Cheung Dave Carson Mal David, along with Colin, Mike’s mate who lead us round some amazing roads.

Caernarfon Trip 10th – 11th August

August 10th – 11th Caernarfon Trip for
Sharon’s Surprise birthday party

A special thank you to ‘Norm’ Andrew Thomas for our invites to a fantastic surprise for Sharon’s 50th
MCO riders had Andrew S, Karen T, Val H, Brian H, Dave C, Sonia C, Stuart C, Mal P, Jim S, Andrew D and Tony C.
Our journey started with some miserable drizzle but the sun eventually came out to play and soon dried us all off as we headed into Wales for our breakfast stop at The Old Stores Motorcycle cafe in Mold.
Unfortunately the drizzle found us again and spoiled the route round the horseshoe pass but hey ho we persevered and was rewarded with the beauty of Wales.
The next planned stop in Ye Olde Boot Inn was a welcome brew stop to sip on coffee and munch on the charity coffee muffins, collecting a respectable £27.50 for The Friends of Red Marsh School but not before a spontaneous burst of birthday song for our birthday girl Sharon🥰
Onwards to a fuel stop for most before an extended ride towards Caernarfon, A568 leading into the south on Snowdonia and then joining the A470 northbound taking us through Eryri National Park. Epic scenery with the sun beating down, tunes blasting out and the MCO family in tow, life just doesn’t get any better♥️
Arriving in Caernarfon’s Morrisons with some tender behinds😂. We sipped coffee again with some grub and was treated to cornettos by Andy D (thank you🙏🏼). We said our goodbyes to Norm and Sharon keeping up the pretence.
An absolute blast at Sharon’s birthday party at the Caernarfon Rigby club, very emotional surprise for her and plenty of drinks served. Top night and finished with some late night entertainment courtesy of our Big Bri 🤪🤪🤪 (video to follow soon🤗)
Morning route back was no less dramatic, as the weather was spot on with full sun guiding us through the awesome Llanberis Pass into Betwy s coed and a brew stop at Dragonfly Fisheries Cafe.
From here we cruised back through and around Dee Valley National Park.
Great short weekend away to celebrate a MCO family member.
Thank you all for being such wonderful company and yet more wonderful memories.
Love you all ♥️

Adhoc Ride Out to Bobheads in Rossendale

Adhoc Ride Out to Bobheads Bike Night 1st August

A lovely evening out with some of the MCO family, Mark, Brian, Jim, Mal and guest Dave.

Met up at Starbucks on Bluebell way in Preston, we headed onto Whalley road on the A59 and looped round Accrington before landing at Bobheads, sun was out and the views were stunning in our very own backyard. Great atmosphere at the bike night, with plenty of bikes in attendance, lots of laughter as usual. Brilliant night run. Till the next one.

Breakfast Run to Cafe Ambio

*Breakfast ride to Cafe Ambio, with an extended ride around Coniston and Windermere for those that wanted to *
Saturday 3rd August…….total mileage 142……
We started the day by meeting at 8.30 am at The Mount Hotel, Orrell. After a quick chat we headed off for breakfast, hitting the M6 to get up there a bit quicker. We arrived at Cafe Ambio at about 10ish. After selecting seats outside ,as it was lovely and sunny, we enjoyed a good cooked breakfast accompanied by lots of great banter, as always! After breakfast Mal unfortunately had to peel off leaving the rest of us to carry on for Coniston and Windermere. After a beautifully scenic ride past the lakes we headed to our coffee break destination at Lower Sizergh barn farm cafe. Here we got talking to a guy who has just purchased his first Indian, an FTR….small world!
After a good gab Jim suggested with take the scenic route back instead of the M6, which we did for an hour but then decided to hit the M6 to get home……another fantastic MCO family day out 😍
Can myself and Andrew Staton thank the following members for attending today’s ride….
Until the next time
